New Rescue Pushed Into Service

Tuesday, December 14, 2021
The “push-in” ceremony is steeped in firehouse tradition and dates back to when fire trucks were not motorized and operated with horse-drawn equipment. In those days, firefighters had to push their trucks into the station after a call because horses would not back the equipment back into the firehouse, said Public Information Officer Ryan Whittington.
The new Heavy Rescue is a 2021 Pierce
Manufacturing walk-in rescue Squad built on an Arrow XT chassis and is equipped with specialized equipment and weighs in at 55,000 pounds. The truck will be stationed out of fire headquarters on 15th Street.
