OC Assists Station 600 On Structure Fire

Friday, October 30, 2015

Around 7:30 p.m. a fire was reported at a maintenance building at Ocean Downs. Heavy fire and smoke could be seen throughout the area and multiple explosions were reported. First arriving firefighters found the building fully involved in fire.

The five-alarm fire brought firefighters from Berlin, Ocean Pines, Ocean City, Showell and Newark to the scene. It took firefighters roughly 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. There is no indication that an evacuation of the Casino at Ocean Downs was considered at any time. Firefighters remained on the scene for another hour and a half for salvage and overhaul operations.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
