AFA Upgraded to Working Alarm - Happy Jacks

Friday, October 30, 2015
On 3 September 2010 at 1908 hours, the OCFD was dispatched to Happy Jacks Pancake House at 2504 Philadelphia Ave. Engine 3 responded with the Duty Crew from Headquarters with Captain Jay Jester. Captain Jester and his crew arrived on location and he established command. Nothing was evident from the exterior. The engine crew began a systematic exterior investigation and, visible from the front glass windows, noticed smoke to the floor. Captain Jester then upgraded to a fire alarm, bringing in additional units. Chief 51 arrived on location and command was transferred. Tower 5 arrived on location and laddered side “Delta” while Rescue 7 took position on side “Bravo.” Engine 3 had the hydrant on side “Charlie” and was the designated command post. The OCFD Fire Marshal’s Office has been determined the fire as accidental and was contained to the kitchen area.
